Helping Hands

Julie Wilson-Board Chair Wilson’s life work has been education. She spent most of her teaching career in southwest Kansas; after 16 years in the classroom, she transitioned to the principal’s office. As a principal, Wilson led her staff and the community in creating USD 309’s middle school by bringing together the district’s three K-8 buildings, students, parents, and staff into a 7-8 grade building. Her next career step was with Kansas NEA as a teacher advocate for 15 years. Now that she has retired, she has come full circle in education and substitutes in her local school district outside of Topeka. Her husband is also a retired educator. Their son is a Pharmacy Systems Clinical Pharmacist in Wyoming. They also are parents to two adorable dogs. In her spare time, Wilson enjoys fishing, reading, and weaving.
